The door on the White Room was salvaged from a house that was torn down locally. There was no existing door on the "bonus" room which was being used by the previous tenants as a closet. I added two barn doors in the hallway for the "bonus" room and the bathroom. The doors were salvaged from Lowell School (circa 1930s).It took 5 doors in various states of disrepair to produce two good doors. The privacy glass is original. There are a few extra panes and trim pieces I saved that will go with the house if needed for repairs in the future. Porch lattice was replaced with vinyl, along with new wood rails/frames, and one of the decorative roof supports was replaced, and hand cut by an artisan to match the existing ones. The White Room was gutted down to the studs and rafters. It was originally the front porch of the house before the addition some time in the 50s or 60s. New vinyl windows (3), updated electric, new ceiling fan with light fixtures. Added some unique antique salvaged items that were sourced locally. The tin ceiling tiles, and the wooden sideboard/buffet piece that hangs above the window. Beadboard, crown moulding, and baseboards were added. Insulation was added where possible in both the walls and the ceiling. Carpet in great room was professionally cleaned 8/2022 A kazillion brads, nails, staples, hooks, and screws were pulled from the wood walls and ceilings.I even found a treasured heirloom nailed above the top of a door, and was able to return it to its owner. New roof in 2020, under warranty for another three years.. All major renovations done by licensed contractors, and signed off by the City of Bisbee Building Inspector. A steampunk handrail made from salvaged pipe and wood was added to the front steps. It was done for free by a friend who wanted to assist my elderly mother when she visited to view the progress on the house. I love it! A super deluxe rural style mailbox on a 6 x 6 post replaced the old one which was small and super wobbly. Reflectors were added as a precaution against people backing into it, because it is SOLID! I also added reflectors to the telephone pole on the easement for guests who might park there for the same reason. Safety first! The water heater works great, but a thermal blanket was added to improve efficiency during the cold months.. The Trees of Heaven were trimmed heavily. We removed as much as we could from branches that were WAY over in neighbors yards on all three sides. They were cut to the ground in the front of the house along the easement when we first bought the property, but we decided we liked the privacy they provide from the street, so we let them grow back.
